On Building
It has been a while since I wrote here. That is usually a good sign. The past weeks have been spent building. When uPeg launched, the intention was to show something. That a v4 hook could be more than a fee switch. That the swap itself could be a generative act. That randomness, art and provenance could live entirely on-chain, written into an object at the moment of its creation, with no dependency on anything outside the contract. That worked. The seed was planted. v4 is now having its moment. New hooks launch weekly. Each one different. Some creative, some derivative, all exploring the same design space. This is exactly what a genuine primitive should produce. The infrastructure does not prescribe. It enables. But a demonstration is not the same as access. The blockchain can do remarkable things. It can prove when something was made and by whom. It can generate outcomes nobody controls. It can give a digital object a history that cannot be rewritten, an origin that cannot be faked, a permanence that outlives every company and every server. These are not features. They are properties. And almost nobody gets to use them. Using them today requires understanding Solidity, deploying contracts, navigating liquidity. The people who would care most about these properties, artists, collectors, people with ideas rather than engineering teams, are exactly the people the current tooling excludes. The tools that solved distribution ignored everything else. This is the problem we have been working on. Not tokenisation for the sake of it. Anyone can put a thing on a chain. The question is whether the thing carries anything. An origin. A history. A reason to exist beyond its price. Making those properties accessible to anyone, without asking them to become an engineer first, is harder than it sounds. It is also the only version of this worth building. When that becomes accessible, provenance stops being a niche concern for people who read contracts. Permanence stops being a technical claim. They become the default assumptions of anything created on-chain. What v4 did for liquidity design, this does for creation itself. More on this soon.
